Re:  Update on the Advisory Committee for the Dean of the Faculty of Information (PDAD&C #66)

As noted in PDAD&C #9 (2020-21), Professor Wendy Duff will complete her term as Dean of the Faculty of Information on June 30, 2021. Professor Duff has been serving as Dean in an extended capacity until the next Dean is appointed. Following the announcement of the Advisory Search Committee in PDAD&C #16 (2020-21), the process for selecting a new Dean of the Faculty has been underway since last year.

During the course of the Advisory Search Committee’s work over the past few months, a serious breach of confidentiality occurred. As a result, and very unfortunately, the President and I have dissolved the Advisory Search Committee. This is in keeping with the best practices laid out in the University’s Search Committee Principles & Practices.

Breaches of confidentiality are a grave matter for the University community. The President and I will discuss next steps in terms of the search process, which will likely have to be put on hiatus for a period of time. I will be in touch shortly with more information regarding interim leadership at the Faculty of Information.
