Re: Reminder – Upcoming Deadline to submit Notice of Intention to Retire for Faculty and Librarians (PDAD&C #68)

This is a formal notice that faculty members and librarians who wish to commence retirement on July 1, 2020 must give notice of their intention by July 1, 2019. Now is the time to remind faculty members and librarians in your unit to start thinking about retirement options so they have enough time to gather sufficient information to make an informed decision.

Chairs, Deans, and Directors can find additional information and all necessary forms here. Information for faculty members and librarians considering retirement is available on the HR and Equity website.

All faculty members and librarians within 10 years of their normal retirement date (age 65) are invited to a Retirement Information Session. This year’s sessions will be held on April 2 (St. George), April 15 (St. George), April 29 (UTSC), and May 1 (UTM). Further details and registration can be found here.

Please note that if a faculty member or librarian wishes to apply to take an earned research and study leave during a three-year phased retirement program, they must apply at the time of giving notice of intention to enter into phased retirement so that the leave can be considered and approved in the context of the planning process for the phased retirement.

For more information on retirement options, please contact the Academic HR Manager for your division, or the Office of the Vice-Provost, Faculty & Academic life at academic.hr@utoronto.ca.
