Re: Reminder – Upcoming Deadline to Submit Notice of Intention to Retire for Faculty and Librarians (PDAD&C #65)

I am writing to remind you that faculty members and librarians who wish to commence retirement on July 1, 2019 must give notice of their intention by July 1, 2018. Now is the time to remind faculty members and librarians in your unit to start thinking about retirement options so they have enough time to gather sufficient information to make an informed decision.

Information for faculty members and librarians considering retirement is available on the Human Resources & Equity website. Chairs, Deans, and Directors can find additional information and all necessary forms online. All faculty members and librarians within 10 years of their normal retirement date (e.g. 65) are invited to attend one of the Retirement Information Sessions, held in April. Further details and registration can be found online.

Please note that if a faculty member or librarian wishes to apply to take an earned research and study leave during a three-year phased retirement program, they must apply at the time of giving notice of intention to enter into phased retirement so that the leave can be considered and approved in the context of the planning process for the phased retirement.
