Re: Now Available – 150 PhD Scholarships for Mexican Students (PDAD&C #80)

The University of Toronto and the Government of the United Mexican States’ National Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT) have renewed their partnership by signing an agreement to support a record number of scholarships for Mexican students to pursue doctoral education at U of T.

CONACyT will be supporting up to 150 qualified Mexican doctoral scholars to take advantage of research and education opportunities at U of T. CONACyT scholarships will cover full tuition (up to $21,000 CAD/Yr), living expenses (up to $13,200 USD/Yr), and health insurance (up to $715 USD/Yr) for each awardee, for a period of four years. The School of Graduate Studies and the Office of the Vice-President, International invite faculty to leverage this historic opportunity to recruit top doctoral students from Mexico.

The renewal of this partnership with CONACyT came last year when Canada was celebrating the 150th anniversary of Confederation; U of T and CONACyT agreed 150 scholarships would celebrate Canada’s strong emphasis on the pluralism of values, cultures, and ideas. For U of T, this scholarship program aligns well with its goal to recruit high quality international students from a diversity of countries, leveraging the emerging people to people ties in order to develop robust and mutually beneficial global knowledge networks.
