Re: [COVID-19] HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service

The University of Toronto has signed an agreement to participate in the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS). While the University of Toronto Libraries are physically closed due to COVID-19, current faculty and students can now access more than 2.5 million of the library’s digitized versions of the library’s in-copyright print books published before 2004 that have been deposited in the HathiTrust Digital Library. To access, follow the instructions on the HathiTrust Digital Library terms of use page. The ETAS collection will only be available while library buildings remain closed.

This arrangement, which respects Canadian copyright law, has been made possible by the University of Toronto Libraries’ membership in HathiTrust – a nonprofit partnership of academic and research institutions which preserves digitized books, journals and other print materials, and makes them as accessible as possible under copyright law.

Additional information on this service can be found on this webpage. Please contact your faculty liaison librarian or email libraryhelp@utoronto.ca for help finding a specific title.
