Re: Consultations on Draft Sexual Violence Policy (PDAD&C #9)

Building on the work of the Presidential and Provostial Committee on Preventing and Responding to Sexual Violence, which began in November 2014, in May 2016 we announced the creation of three expert panels tasked with supporting the University’s Action Plan on Preventing and Responding to Sexual Violence. The Expert Panel on Sexual Violence Policies, chaired by Professor of Law and Provost of Trinity College, Mayo Moran, presented us with its recommendations in early August. We have drawn from these recommendations to write a draft new sexual violence policy for the University community.

The draft new policy is now available on the consultation website for feedback from all members of the University community. We encourage you to foster discussion about the policy in your departments and at faculty meetings.

The new policy will come forward for governance approval later this fall, and is required by provincial legislation to come into force by January 1, 2017.
