|Re:||Call for Nominations – U of T Teaching Awards & Fellowships (PDAD&C #20)|
Teaching and learning is central to the mission of the University of Toronto. The following University-wide awards and fellowship programs have been established to recognize our strengths in these areas, to develop future leaders in teaching and learning, and to celebrate the significant achievements of our faculty in educational leadership and innovations in teaching. Recipients are honoured at an annual Excellence in Teaching Reception.
I am delighted to announce the call for nominations for the 2015-16 University of Toronto Teaching Awards & Fellowships:
- The President’s Teaching Award(PTA)
- The University of Toronto Early Career Teaching Award (ECTA)
- The University of Toronto Teaching Fellowships (UTTF)
The President’s Teaching Award recognizes sustained excellence in teaching and significant contributions in educational leadership. We encourage nominations of colleagues whose achievements in these fields are truly outstanding for recognition by the University of Toronto. President’s Teaching Award winners receive an annual professional development allowance of $10,000 for five years. The University designates recipients as members of the Teaching Academy for a minimum period of five years; those wishing to continue participation in the Academy after this term may elect to do so.
A selection committee chaired by the Vice-President and Provost will determine the PTA Award winners.
The nomination deadline is March 21,2016.
Enquiries regarding the President’s Teaching Award and nomination procedures should be directed to Megan Burnett, Associate Director, Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI) at 416-946-8585 or at email@example.com.

This award is open to assistant professors in the tenure stream as well as lecturers or assistant professors, teaching stream in continuing positions who are in the first five years of their academic appointment, and have completed two years of teaching at the University of Toronto. Up to four awards of $3,000 each will be offered annually.

The Teaching Fellowships program will continue to run as a pilot for the academic year 2016-17. Two Fellowships are available to faculty members holding continuing full-time appointments in the teaching stream at the rank of assistant professor, teaching stream or lecturer as well as associate professor, teaching stream or senior lecturer. The Fellowships will provide the recipients’ departments with funds for teaching release, which is intended to allow them to fully engage in a pedagogical project of direct benefit to students in a defined area of institutional priority. The project will be completed in consultation with the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation. Through its focus on supporting pedagogical innovation and research, the program is intended to promote and recognize leadership within the teaching stream.
