On June 30, 2018, Mr. Larry Alford will complete his current term as Chief Librarian of the University of Toronto Libraries. Mr. Alford is eligible for reappointment.

In accordance with Section 66 of the Policies for Librarians, I am writing to call for nominations of individuals to serve on the Committee that will advise on the reappointment of the Chief Librarian. The Policy specifies that the Vice-President & Provost or designate will Chair the Committee. The Committee will have twelve additional members, of whom no fewer than seven shall be appointed from within the Libraries system, and of whom no fewer than four will be librarians in this University. The Committee shall be appointed by the Vice-President & Provost and shall be as representative of the University community as is feasible.

The Advisory Committee will begin meeting in the fall term. Nominations for the Advisory Committee should be submitted to the Office of the Vice-President & Provost by June 30, 2017 via the online form. Questions about this process should be directed to:
