Re: Appointment of Professor Marsha Chechik as Acting Dean, Faculty of Information (PDAD&C #41)

I am delighted to announce that the Agenda Committee of Academic Board has approved the appointment of Professor Marsha Chechik as Acting Dean, Faculty of Information, for a six-month period from July 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022 while the current Dean, Wendy Duff is on administrative leave.

Professor Chechik currently serves as the Chair and Graduate Chair of the Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Arts and Science.

Professor Marsha Chechik received her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Maryland in 1996. She was hired as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto and is cross-appointed to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She was awarded tenure and promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2002, and promoted to the rank of Professor in 2009.

Professor Chechik’s research interests are in the application of formal methods to improve the quality of software. She has authored numerous papers on software specification and verification, computer safety, assurance and security, and product line engineering.

Please join me in thanking Professor Chechik for taking on this acting role at the Faculty of Information.
