Re: Appointment of Dr. Pierre Piché as Interim Chief Financial Officer (PDAD&C #6)

As announced in PDADC Memo #80, Sheila Brown is retiring from her role of Chief Financial Officer on July 31, 2021.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Pierre Piché as Interim Chief Financial Officer effective August 1, 2021.  Dr. Piché will serve in this capacity until a continuing appointment is made.

The search for a new Chief Financial Officer is now underway.  Odgers Berndtson, which has a dedicated finance practice, is assisting with the search.  The advisory search committee membership includes:

Professor Meric Gertler, President, chair

Mr. Brian Lawson, Vice-Chair, Brookfield Asset Management; Chair, Governing Council

Ms. Mary Lyne, CAO, Rotman School of Management

Prof. Scott Mabury, Vice-President Operations and Real Estate Partnerships

Prof. Rhonda McEwan, Vice-Principal, Academic and Dean, UTM

Dr. Pierre Piché, Controller and Director of Financial Services

Prof. Jamie Stafford, Vice-Dean, Academic Operations, Faculty of Arts and Science

Ms Erin Jackson, Chief Human Resources Officer and Dr. Nadina Jamison, Chief Strategy Officer provide committee support.

Pierre Piché currently serves as the Controller and Director of Financial Services, a role he has held since 2005. In this capacity he is responsible for providing strategic advice to senior leaders on financial matters including financial reporting and analyses.  He is also responsible for the setting of sound financial and accounting policies to protect the University’s assets and oversees the monitoring of financial transactions for compliance. He holds an Honours BComm from Laurentian University, as well as a Master’s in Higher Education and PhD from OISE.

I am delighted that Dr. Piché has agreed to serve in this interim capacity.  Please join me in welcoming him to this role.
