Re: Agreement on Across the Board (ATB) Salary Increases for Faculty and Librarians Retroactive to July 1, 2022, and New Overload Stipend Rate (PDAD&C #11)

Further to the announcement made September 16, 2022, I am pleased to provide details concerning the arbitration interim order regarding an Across-the-Board (ATB) salary increase for faculty and librarians.

This memo contains important information concerning the retroactive payment of July 1, 2022, ATB increase and how this should be implemented.

Salary Increases

While we are still awaiting the conclusion of the arbitration process, in the interest of implementing pay increases for faculty and librarians in a timely way, arbitrator Eli Gedalof has made an interim order that provides the following:

  • An ATB increase of 1% retroactive to July 1, 2022
  • An increase in the Minimum Per Course Stipend and Overload Rate from $18,255 to $18,438 retroactive to September 1, 2022.

Implementation of the ATB increases for July 1, 2022

The payment of the July 1, 2022 ATB increase will be implemented for the November 2022 pay run and be retroactive to the relevant date.

Adjusted July 1, 2022 base salary

July 1, 2022 PTR has already been paid. The University and UTFA agreed in February 2022 to the payment of PTR/5% merit for the 2021-22 assessment period. Faculty members and librarians received  payment of PTR/5% merit for the 2021-22 assessment period  in the July 2022 pay run (See PDAD&C, 2021-22, #30).

  • The adjusted breakpoints and increments for the period July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023  have been updated and are available in the Salary Ranges table of the AAPM.
  • A revised salary letter template to be used in communicating this ATB increase is available online.

Processing Instructions

Instructions on the HRIS implementation of these increases will be circulated to your Business Officers. The full instructions regarding HRIS processing will be made available via the AMS listserv following the October 2022 pay run and will provide details for November pay implementation.
