As noted in PDAD&C #86 on April 6, 2017, Professor Mohini Sain will complete his term as Dean of the Faculty of Forestry on June 30, 2017. Professor Sain has informed me that he is not wishing to consider an extension to his term.

As announced on March 23, 2017 in PDAD&C #78, a collegial process of consultation and exploration is underway regarding academic programs and research in forestry and related disciplines at U of T including the potential academic restructuring of the Faculty of Forestry.

In accordance with Section 60 of the Policy on Appointment of Academic Administrators, President Gertler has appointed a Committee to recommend the appointment of a Dean of the Faculty of Forestry for a two year term. The composition of the Committee is as follows:

Annonciade Murat (MFC Student)
Rosanne Van Schie (PhD Student)

Locke Rowe, Dean, School of Graduate Studies

Librarian:
Larry Alford, Chief Librarian, University of Toronto Libraries

Scholars outside the Faculty:
Cristina Amon, Dean, Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering
Virginia Maclaren, Chair, Department of Geography & Planning, Faculty of Arts & Science
Robert Wright, Associate Professor, John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design

The Advisory Committee will begin meeting this month and welcomes comments from interested persons. These may be sent to Archana Sridhar, Assistant Provost, by mail (Simcoe Hall Room 225) or by email to archana.sridhar@utoronto.ca. Nominations for the position of Dean can be submitted via the online form. All communications will be received in confidence and will be anonymized before consideration by the Advisory Committee.
