Re: Update on the Chief Financial Officer, Office of the President (PDAD&C #80)
On July 31, 2021, Ms. Sheila Brown will retire from her role as Chief Financial Officer, Office of the President. She has served with distinction in this role since 2005, and as an employee of the University since 1973. As Chief Financial Officer, Sheila has worked with tremendous dedication and skill to ensure the strong financial position of the University over many years. On her watch, the University has enjoyed consistently strong assessments from external credit rating agencies, expressing their confidence in the financial stability of the institution.
The work of Sheila and her team has been especially important since the start of the pandemic in ensuring uninterrupted continuity of key business processes. Moreover, Sheila has played a leading role in helping to implement the transition to the newly created University Pension Plan, planning for a seamless transition of both member services and investment management.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Sheila for her exceptional service to the University.
A search for a new Chief Financial Officer has already been initiated. The search will be run with the assistance of Odgers Berndtson, which has a dedicated finance practice. Reporting to the President, the Chief Financial Officer leads the Finance Division in the development and implementation of financial leadership and services to the University, establishing and monitoring financial policies and procedures, ensuring accurate financial controls are in place and producing financial reports and analysis.
