Re: Use of Cannabis in Research (PDAD&C #54)

With the recent legalization of cannabis in Canada, please note a clarification on the requirements for research involving cannabis. While it is legal to possess cannabis for personal use, Health Canada requires that a license be in place for any research involving cannabis, including THC or CBD compounds.

It is the responsibility of the principal investigator to ensure that the proper licenses are in place for research involving cannabis. For more information on the licensing requirements and application process, please see:  https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/drugs-medication/cannabis/industry-licensees-applicants/licensing-summary.html
