Re: Update on the University Registrar
I am writing to share the news that Angelique (Ang) Saweczko has been appointed University Registrar and Vice-Provost, Integrated Enrolment Management at the University of Calgary, effective February 1, 2026. This is a clear recognition of the leadership, judgment, and strategic insight she has brought to enrolment management at the University of Toronto.
Ang joined U of T during the most demanding phase of the pandemic and quickly became one of the central figures guiding the university’s academic and operational navigation of that period. Among her many contributions was the cultivation of a genuine community of practice in registrarial services across our tri-campus system – connecting and supporting the people who do this work and raising the standard of service excellence for students and divisions alike.
Under Ang’s guidance, Student Accounts, Learning Space Management, and the Office of Convocation were integrated into a unified, student-centred portfolio – an achievement that required both vision and diplomacy. The strengths she built are now deeply embedded in the institution. Other projects of note were the alignment of sessional dates across the university – achieved through Ang’s diplomacy, collaborative approach, and ability to bring diverse academic communities into alignment, and the strategic redesign and implementation of the university’s financial aid program. Across all of this work, Ang brought a rare combination of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and an unwavering commitment to students. The University of Calgary is gaining an outstanding leader, whose contributions here have left a lasting and positive mark.
Ang’s last day at U of T will be January 30 and I am very pleased to announce that Sinisa Markovic will serve as Interim University Registrar, effective February 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027.
Sinisa currently serves as Deputy University Registrar and Executive Director of Registrarial Systems and Strategic Reporting. He has over 25 years of experience at U of T, including a decade in advancing leadership roles within VPSEM (formerly Enrolment Services) and key positions in the Faculty of Arts & Science, the Rotman School of Management, and Innis College. He also previously served as Interim Executive Director, Enrolment Services and University Registrar in 2020-21.
Sinisa is widely recognized for his collaborative leadership style and deep commitment to staff mentorship, consistently fostering growth, cross-functional learning, and opportunities for advancement and innovation.
A search for the next University Registrar will be initiated later in 2026.
Please join me in congratulating Sinisa, and in extending warm congratulations to Ang while expressing our deep appreciation for her service, partnership, and exemplary leadership.
