The Division of HR & Equity, in partnership with the Office of the Vice-President & Provost are thrilled to announce the winning name of our new recognition program that was generated through the “‘U’ name It” contest!
In a recent call out in the Bulletin, staff and faculty were invited to participate in a contest and propose a new name for the award. 116 names were submitted for consideration.
A decision panel composed of senior administration has chosen the winning name based on originality, creativity and relevance to the award program.
The winning name, “True Blue Awards”, represents the new program which has been designed to honour U of T faculty and staff who make invaluable contributions to the University every day; they accomplish personal and institutional goals, mentor their colleagues, and keep this institution working – they are often the ‘unsung heroes’ of the institution, they are our heart and soul and they embody the ‘True Blue’ Spirit of the University of Toronto.
Congratulations to Bernadette Fenton, Labour Relations Consultant and Laurie Torno, Senior Job Evaluation & Training Analyst for providing the winning entry in ‘U’ name IT contest. The contest judges unanimously agreed that their suggestion of the “True Blue Awards” was the most reflective of the goals for the new awards, and aligns with the spirit of the University’s famous mascot Trevor True Blue.
Thanks to all who submitted names for this contest. More details on the launch of the new program will come later this spring.
