Further to the joint announcement made on July 4, 2025, I am pleased to provide details concerning the implementation of salary increases for faculty members and librarians related to  salary increases awarded in an interest arbitration award by Arbitrator Eli Gedalof (the award is available here) and the payment of July 1, 2025 PTR/merit.

Salary Increases

In order of application:

  • An Across the Board (ATB) salary increase of 3.5% retroactive to July 1, 2023
  • Calculation of the difference owing for July 1, 2024 PTR/Merit (payment retroactive to July 1, 2024)
  • An ATB salary increase of 2.5% retroactive to July 1, 2024.
  • Payment of July 1, 2025 PTR/Merit

With respect to 2025 ATB (retroactive to July 1, 2025), an agreement or award is anticipated in Fall 2025 and a further pay adjustment will be made at that time.

Overload Stipend Rate

  • $20,420 (3.5% increase retroactive to July 1, 2023)
  • $20,931 (2.5% increase retroactive to July 1, 2024)

PTR Mechanism for the Calculation of the Merit Pools for July 1, 2025

Merit (PTR and 5%) will be calculated using the PTR model that was used for the payment of July 2024 PTR, i.e., PTR pools are generated solely from the salary pools above and below the breakpoint.

Adjustments to Professional Expense Reimbursement Accounts (PERA)

Effective July 1, 2025, PERA accounts will be increased as follows:

Full-time, 
Part-time 
Pre-tenure faculty, during the pre-promotion pre-continuing status teaching stream, full-time continuing pre-permanent status librarians Tenured faculty, continuing teaching stream, all other librarians, contract-limited term assignment (CLTAs), limited-term lecturers

Part-time 
(>=50%)

Part-time 
(20% to 49%)

Please note that adjustments to PERA allocations will be made centrally before September, 2025. For full details on PERA for Faculty members and Librarians please review the related ServiceNow knowledge article.

Implementation Details

  • The payment of the salary increases as laid out above will be implemented for the September 2025 monthly pay run.
    • Adjustments to overload stipends should also be processed in the September 2025 monthly pay run.
  • These updates will be made locally (PERA allocations will be made centrally).
  • The adjusted breakpoints and increments have been updated and are available in the Salary Ranges table on the Academic Administrative Procedures Manual (AAPM).
  • With respect to July 1, 2025 PTR, the PTR pool amounts are available in the Compensation Planning Tool (CPT) Phase 2. A communication has been circulated by the Planning and Budget Office.
  • The full instructions regarding HRIS processing will be made available via the AMS listserv following the August 2025 monthly pay run and will provide details for the September 2025 monthly pay implementation.
    • Alternatively, adjustments may be made in advance of the close of the August 2025 monthly pay run. These instructions will be made available via the AMS listserv in the upcoming weeks (including the dates of an early information session).
