Re: Faculty Member and Librarian Performance Evaluation and Merit Process for 2024-25 (PTR/5% Merit) (PDAD&C #2)

We are writing to provide an update on the payment of July 1, 2025 PTR/Merit.

The University Administration and the University of Toronto Faculty Association (UTFA) have engaged in multiple discussions over the past couple of years regarding Salary, Benefits, and Workload for the period July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2026, which proceeded to mediation and subsequently to interest arbitration.

We have now received the arbitration award for Across the Board (ATB) salary increases and benefits improvements from Arbitrator Eli Gedalof. The award is available here.

UTFA and the University Administration have agreed to pay the July 1, 2025 PTR/Merit and the awarded retroactive pay increases for July 1, 2023 and July 1, 2024 in the September 2025 monthly pay run.

As a reminder, the following salary adjustments need to be implemented in addition to the July 1, 2025 PTR/Merit:

  1. Application of 2023 ATB increases (retroactive to July 1, 2023)
  2. Calculation of the difference owing for July 1, 2024 PTR/Merit (payment retroactive to July 1, 2024)
  3. Application of 2024 ATB increases (retroactive to July 1, 2024)

This approach provides administrative staff who are processing the pay adjustments with enough time to calculate carefully and apply the necessary increases accurately. Faculty members and librarians will receive a single, comprehensive salary letter that outlines all applicable increases.

The processing of these salary adjustments will begin shortly. Further details about the implementation of the agreement will be forthcoming.

With respect to 2025 ATB (retroactive to July 1, 2025), an agreement or award is anticipated in Fall 2025 and a further pay adjustment will be made at that time.
