Re: Extension of Professor Robert Levit as Acting Dean, John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design (PDAD&C #45)
I am pleased to announce that the Agenda Committee of Academic Board has approved an extension to the appointment of Professor Robert Levit as Acting Dean of the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.
As noted in PDAD&C#43 (2024-25), Professor Juan Du remains on leave and has informed me that she will not seek reappointment when her current term as Dean ends on June 30, 2026. More information about the search for a new Dean of the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design will be forthcoming.
Under Professor Levit’s leadership, the Daniels Faculty continues to educate students, prepare professionals, and cultivate scholars who will play a leading role in creating more culturally engaged, ecologically sustainable, socially just, and artfully conceived environments. His commitment to improvement—from recruitment and admissions processes to addressing budget challenges, and from implementing new diversity initiatives to hosting more public programming—is part of reflective stewardship of the Faculty for a sustainable future. Professor Levit has also set ambitious goals for multidisciplinary research in Forest Conservation, Material Science, Building Science, and Ecological Design. His engagement with the community of Daniels alumni and supporters has secured $5.4M in funding from donors.
Professor Levit received his BA from Columbia University and his MArch from Harvard University. He was promoted to Professor in 2025. Recently, Professor Levit’s design work and critical thinking on the contemporary city have been recognized in the annual Flash Art Volumes 002: Crisis Formalism.
Please join me in thanking Professor Levit for his dedicated service to the Daniels Faculty.
