Governing Council Elections

Teaching Staff:

  • An election will be held for one seat in each of the following three constituencies between Monday, February 5 and Friday, February 16, 2018:
    • Constituency IA
      (All Teaching Staff Teaching Staff members who hold their major appointments in the Faculty of Arts and Science who hold their major appointments in the Departments of Art, Classics, East Asian Studies, English, French, Germanic Languages and Literatures, History, Italian Studies, Linguistics, Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations, Philosophy, Study of Religion, Slavic Languages and Literatures, and Spanish and Portuguese; the Centre for Comparative Literature; Cinema Studies Institute; Centre for Drama, Theatre, and Performance Studies; Centre for Medieval Studies; and Institute for History & Philosophy of Science & Technology (excluding those who are members of Constituency II or III)
    • Constituency III
      (All Teaching Staff Teaching Staff members who hold their major appointments at the University of Toronto Scarborough)
    • Constituency V
      (All Teaching Staff who hold major appointments in the Faculty of Medicine)
  • Nominations will re-open at 12:00pm on Thursday, January 18 and close at 5:00pm on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 for one seat for the following constituency:
    • Constituency IB
      (All Teaching Staff members who hold their major appointments in the Departments of Anthropology, Economics, Geography, Political Science, and Sociology; the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies; Munk School of Global Affairs; Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources; Women and Gender Studies Institute, and Teaching Staff members who hold their major appointments in University College, St Michael’s College, New College, Woodsworth College, and Innis College (excluding those who are members of Constituency IA, IC, II or III))
  • One seat for the following constituency has been filled by acclamation:
    • Constituency VI
      (All Teaching Staff members who hold their major appointments in the Faculty of Dentistry, Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education)

Administrative Staff:

  • An election will be held for one seat between Monday, February 5 and Friday, February 16, 2018.

Voting instructions will be sent by email at a later date to teaching staff and administrative staff members eligible to vote in these elections. If required, ballots will be mailed by January 29, 2018 to those teaching staff and administrative staff for whom email addresses are not listed on HRIS or on the election database. All online votes must be cast and mail ballots returned by Friday, February 16, 2018. Eligible teaching staff and administrative staff should be directed to contact me if they are entitled to participate in the elections but do not receive a paper ballot in the mail.

Students:

  • Two of the eight student seats – those for part-time undergraduate students – have been filled by acclamation.
  • The election for six remaining student seats will be held between Monday, February 5 and Friday, February 16, 2018.

Full-time undergraduate students registered in the Faculty of Arts & Science, University of Toronto Mississauga, University of Toronto Scarborough, and Professional Faculties (excluding postgraduate medical trainees), and graduate students will be able to vote on U-elecT. Information will be sent to students by e-mail at a later date. Online votes must be cast by 5:00pm on February 16, 2018.

Postgraduate medical trainees will be able to vote online between Monday, February 5 and Friday, February 16, 2018. Information about the online election will be sent by email.


Academic Board Elections

  • Five Teaching Staff seats have been filled by acclamation.
  • There will be an election required for Teaching Staff representatives for the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Medicine, and the University of Toronto Scarborough.
  • Nominations will re-open at 12:00pm on Thursday, January 18 and close at 5:00pm on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 for Teaching Staff representatives from the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, the Faculty of Arts & Science, and the Faculty of Medicine.
  • One Librarian seat has been filled by acclamation.
  • An election will be held between Monday, February 5 and Friday, February 16, 2018 for the seats on the Academic Board.

Voting instructions will be sent by email at a later date to teaching staff and librarians eligible to vote in these elections. If required, ballots will be mailed by January 29, 2018 to those teaching staff and librarians for whom email addresses are not listed on HRIS or on the election database. All online votes must be cast and mail ballots returned by Friday, February 16, 2018. Eligible teaching staff should be directed to contact me if they are entitled to participate in the elections but do not receive a paper ballot in the mail.
