Re: Call for Proposals – Provost’s Instructional Technology Innovation Fund

I am pleased to announce that the next round of the Provost’s Instructional Technology Innovation Fund (ITIF) is now open and accepting submissions until March 4, 2016.

ITIF is a seed fund designed to catalyze initiatives that immediately and directly impact University of Toronto education and teaching programs through innovation and development. Supported by the Office of the Vice-President & Provost, and administered by Academic and Collaborative Technologies, a partnership between the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation and Information Technology Services, the ITIF is focused specifically on the practical applications of technology in design, implementation, evaluation, curriculum renewal, faculty development, or continuing education initiatives that enrich learning. The ITIF is intended to support strategic directions in education broadly, across all disciplines. The proposed deliverable and outcomes must be closely aligned with the ongoing goals and objectives of the departments and programs from which they emerge.

This year’s ITIF seeks to address the theme of Powerful Assessment by encouraging instructors and departments to submit project proposals that will result in the development of technology-mediated innovative assessment strategies at the course or program level. We encourage projects that lead to the assessment of students’ personal, interpersonal and cognitive capabilities, along with their key skills and knowledge in combination. We are especially interested in approaches that can be used as assessment for learning, not just of learning. This would include assessment tools that go beyond traditional methods and tasks that measure the ability to replicate knowledge or practice routine skills.
