Re: Call for Nominations – Associate Vice-President and Vice-Provost, International Student Experience

As announced on May 8, 2024, Professor Alexie Tcheuyap has stepped down from his role as Associate Vice-President and Vice-Provost, International Student Experience as he has, as of July 1, 2024, become Dean of Arts at the University of Waterloo.

We invite nominations of individuals to be considered as Associate Vice-President and Vice-Provost, International Student Experience. The appointment is for a five-year term. Interested faculty members may self-nominate.

The Associate Vice-President and Vice-Provost, International Student Experience (AVP-VP ISE) reports to both the Vice-President & Provost and to the Vice-President, International. The AVP-VP ISE has an integral role in leading an integrated vision and furthering the strategic goals and initiatives of both offices when it comes to matters related to international students, and all students’ opportunities for international engagement.

The AVP-VP ISE supports divisional international engagement across all three campuses through collaborative development of global opportunities for all University of Toronto students through curricular and co-curricular initiatives; academic leadership in the areas of learning abroad opportunities for students; and fostering a positive international student experience at University of Toronto, including through leadership of the International Student Experience Fund.

The AVP-VP ISE holds responsibility for the overall vision and academic leadership in the areas of learning abroad opportunities for students, global engagement opportunities for all University of Toronto students through curricular and co-curricular initiatives, and international student experience across all three campuses. The AVP-VP ISE pursues global partnership opportunities that support these goals, working closely with other members of the International Office’s executive team. They also work closely with academic divisions across the three campuses, and oversees the tri-campus Centre for International Experience in collaboration with the Vice-Provost, Students.

The AVP-VP ISE also collaborates closely with the Vice-Provost, Strategic Enrolment Management on international student recruitment, with a focus on diversification strategies and continuing to develop and promote U of T as a supportive environment for international students.

Faculty nominations for the role of AVP-VP ISE are welcome by email to Assistant Vice President, International Engagement and Impact Gwen Burrows (gwen.burrows@utoronto.ca) until August 16, 2024. Please include a CV and a cover letter outlining previous leadership experience with and opportunities for international student engagement. Questions are welcome and communications will be received in confidence.
