Re: Call for Nominations – Advisory Committee on the Appointment of the Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation, University of Toronto Mississauga (PDAD&C #19)
On July 30, 2024, Professor Kent Moore will complete his final term as Vice-Principal, Research, at U of T Mississauga. Sincere thanks to him for his leadership over the past six years, which has culminated – among many other accomplishments – in the first Strategic Research Framework in our campus’ history.
U of T Mississauga looks forward to building on this momentum in the search to appoint our next research leader: the Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation, a position now re-named to match its expanded scope and its peer role at U of T Scarborough.
According to Section 83 of the Policy on Appointment of Academic Administrators, there is no requirement to issue a call for nominations to serve on the advisory committee. However, in keeping with the principles of participatory decision making and shared governance, we are issuing a call for nominations to serve on the Committee that will advise on the appointment of a new Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation, University of Toronto Mississauga.
The composition of the Advisory Committee will include:
- Vice-President and Principal, U of T Mississauga
- Vice-President, Research and Innovation, and Strategic Initiatives, U of T
- Three UTM academic department chairs
- Five to eight other people, who might include: UTM teaching and administrative staff and students; teaching staff from beyond UTM; and members of the wider community, such as alumni.
Please submit nominations for advisory committee members to the Office of the Vice-President and Principal, UTM by December 8, 2023, using this online form. Please share any questions about the search process with Anuar Rodrigues, Executive Director, Strategy, at anuar.rodrigues@utoronto.ca.
The advisory committee will begin meeting in early January 2024, supported by the international executive search firm, Perrett Laver.
