Re: Appointment of the Senior Director, Global Learning Opportunities & International Student Success, Centre for International Experience (CIE) (PDAD&C #39)

We are pleased to announce that – following an international search for the next leader of the Centre for International Experience (CIE) – Katherine Beaumont has been appointed Senior Director, Global Learning Opportunities & International Student Success effective January 1, 2017.

As Senior Director, Katherine will lead the development and implementation of initiatives and programs aimed at furthering the University’s priority to strengthen and deepen international experiences and global engagement for our students. Working closely with the senior leadership of the University, Katherine’s portfolio will include a focus on student mobility and global learning opportunities (locally and abroad) and furthering intercultural learning across the three campuses.

Katherine comes to U of T, returning to Canada, from the University of Melbourne, where she served as the Director of Student Success since September 2015. As Director, she led a major change process to enable strong partnership and embedded pathways for student involvement and academic success, global leadership, and employability. Prior to this appointment, she was at the University of British Columbia in progressively senior internationally focused roles, and most recently served as the Director, Go Global: International Learning Programs (2001-2015). Katherine has a Masters of Education from McGill University.

Katherine Beaumont models a commitment to international education and student services. She brings over twenty-five years of experience in higher education with a focus on international experiential learning, global study abroad opportunities, and international student support. She has an extensive background in developing and implementing innovative intercultural programs, services, and partnerships in a large team and multi-campus university environment.

On behalf of the University, we want to thank Holly Luffman for serving in the role of Interim Director during this period of transition and are extremely appreciative that she will continue as Interim Director until Katherine’s arrival in January.

Please join us in welcoming Katherine to the University of Toronto and thanking Holly for her service.
