Re: | Now Available – Graduate Supervision Guidelines for Faculty (PDAD&C #9) |
In an ongoing effort to promote excellence in graduate supervision, the School of Graduate Studies is pleased to release the faculty edition of the updated Graduate Supervision Guidelines. This online resource is a companion piece to Graduate Supervision Guidelines for Students, published last fall.
Utilizing Graduate Supervision: Guidelines for Students, Faculty, and Administrators (2012) as a point of departure, Graduate Supervision Guidelines for Faculty explores factors that contribute to a successful supervisory relationship. It also includes recommendations for creating equality and equity when working with students, and a discussion of how supervisory styles differ across graduate units and disciplines.
The Guidelines were developed in consultation with students, faculty, and representatives from the University of Toronto Graduate Students’ Union, Graduate Conflict Resolution Centre, Accessibility Services, and First Nations House. Together, the faculty and student editions of these supervision guidelines recognize the importance of good supervision to the success of our graduate students during their studies at U of T and beyond.
Please share uoft.me/supervisors with your colleagues, and look for details of upcoming supervision workshops for faculty scheduled to be announced later this fall.
