Re: | Now Available – Joint Educational Placement Doctoral Program Resources (PDAD&C #74) |
The School of Graduate Studies has launched new online resources designed to raise awareness and provide clarity about the University’s Joint Educational Placement (JEP) Program. A JEP arrangement requires two main ingredients: an existing or emerging collaboration between a supervisor at the University of Toronto and a faculty member at another institution, and a full-time doctoral student whose research interests are shared with the two supervisors. Enabling doctoral students to pursue their degree under the joint supervision of faculty from U of T and a collaborating Canadian or international university is an exciting opportunity to invigorate research, exchange ideas, and share resources. It can also enrich graduate and undergraduate communities at both institutions.
Our online resources help clarify the expectations, roles, and responsibilities of each party involved in a Joint Educational Placement arrangement. New web pages provide links to a streamlined version of the JEP Agreement form as well as to relevant policies and Frequently Asked Questions tailored to students and to graduate faculty, chairs, and administrators. Profiles of current JEP students from a range of programs also highlight the benefits of the collaboration from a student perspective. In the coming weeks, these resources will be augmented to address exciting developments in the JEP program.
We encourage you to access these resources and welcome your feedback. Should you require further information about the program, please contact:
