The Agenda Committee of Academic Board has approved the appointment of Professor Audrey Laporte as Acting Dean, Dalla Lana School of Public Health from January 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026, while the current Dean, Adalsteinn Brown, is on research leave.    

Professor Laporte is an economist and has served as the Director of the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation since 2019. She holds cross-appointments at the Department of Economics (U of T) and the Faculty of Dentistry (U of T).  She also serves as Director of the Canadian Centre for Health Economics. Her research focuses on the development of micro-economic theory and the application of micro-econometric methods to address questions of policy interest to health and health care.  

Professor Laporte is also the Past President of the International Health Economics Association, Member of the Scientific Board of the Annual Health Econometrics Workshop, and Senior Adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences. She serves in a number of editorial roles, including Associate Editor of Health Economics, one of the top journals in the field of health economics, and Editorial Board member for Social Science and Medicine-Health Systems and Health Affairs Scholar.
