Re: Appointment of Archana Sridhar as Assistant Vice-President, Institutional Affairs & Senior Advisor, and Meg Connell as Assistant Provost
It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Archana Sridhar as Assistant Vice-President, Institutional Affairs & Senior Advisor, effective November 17, 2025.
In this new role within the Office of the Vice-President & Provost, Archana will collaborate with key partners to strengthen the University’s capacity for proactive, coordinated, and strategic management of issues that may impact the University’s reputation and operations. This position underscores the University’s commitment to ensuring a consistent and integrated institutional response to complex matters that span multiple portfolios, Faculties, and campuses. As a senior advisor to the President and Provost, the Assistant Vice-President will lead the University’s response to critical issues and incidents, provide high-level strategic counsel on sensitive matters, and chair the University’s Issues Management Group (IMG).
Archana has served the University of Toronto with distinction since 2010, first as Assistant Dean of the Graduate Program in the Faculty of Law and currently in the Office of the Vice-President & Provost. As Assistant Provost, she has been an integral member of the University’s leadership team, developing an expertise on matters of free expression and academic freedom. Archana is an outstanding leader, widely recognized across the institution for her insight, collaboration, and commitment to excellence. Her contributions have been invaluable to the University, earning her the Chancellor’s Award in 2021. Archana has a B.A. (Religious Studies) from Bard College and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.
As Archana transitions to her new role, I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Meg Connell as Assistant Provost, effective November 17, 2025.
Meg has been a valued member of the leadership team within the Office of the Vice-President & Provost and will be responsible for facilitating and implementing the academic priorities and directions established by the Vice-President & Provost. She joined the University of Toronto in 2009, first as Director, Office of the Dean in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, and later as Senior Strategist in the Office of the Vice-President & Provost. Meg brings extensive experience, deep institutional knowledge, and a proven record of effective leadership to this role. She holds a B.A. (Hon. Political Science) from Western University and an M.B.A. from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
As Assistant Provost, Meg will act as the Provost’s liaison to governance, support decanal searches, lead policy development and reviews, and co-chair the Provost’s Administrative Council with the Chief Administrative Officer of the Provost Division. I am confident that Meg will continue to make significant contributions to the University’s academic mission and strategic initiatives in this important position.
Please join me in congratulating Archana and Meg on their well-deserved appointments.
