Re: Call for Submissions — 2022 Office of Indigenous Initiatives Annual Report
Each year the University of Toronto’s (U of T) Office of Indigenous Initiatives (OII) releases the Annual Progress Report highlighting U of T’s Indigenous Initiatives and progress towards reconciliation. This year saw many achievements and growth at the University of Toronto and the report aims to highlight the significant work that has been done at all three campuses, informs future decisions across the institution and brings attention to the work we still have ahead of us.
The Office of Indigenous Initiatives is now welcoming units and divisions to provide information on all Indigenous events, activities, programs, policies, and new hires, that took place at the University of Toronto in 2022. This information collected will be part of the 2022 Annual Progress Report that is shared both internally and externally.
This commitment comes from the University’s TRC Steering Committee’s Report, Answering the Call: Wecheehetowin, particularly Call to Action # 33, which states:
33 Short-Term Call to Action: All divisions should be required to report annually to the Provost on progress in implementing University commitments in relation to the Calls to Action contained in this report.
For example, the 2022 OII Annual Report is seeking to highlight:
- Indigenous events and programming;
- New Indigenous hires (includes staff, faculty and librarians);
- New Indigenous curriculum and/or co-curricular educational program developments;
- Indigenous research
- Community partnerships and relationship-building efforts with Indigenous communities;
- New Indigenous spaces
- Divisional policies and/or procedural guidelines surrounding Indigenous strategy; and
- Other Indigenous initiatives.
We encourage all U of T Units and Divisions to highlight their work and contribute to the report by submitting feedback on the Annual Progress Report form found HERE, by November 4, 2022.
Please note that all activities, including PEFAL-funded activities, can be listed within this form. For more information or help with submitting information, please contact Brianna Sands, Special Projects Officer at the Office of Indigenous Initiatives – b.sands@utoronto.ca.
