Re: Advice on Appointment of the Vice-Provost, Faculty & Academic Life (PDAD&C #33)
On June 30, 2023, Professor Heather Boon will end her current term as Vice-Provost, Faculty & Academic Life. Professor Boon is eligible for reappointment. She is planning to take administrative leave for six months during 2023.
The Vice-Provost, Faculty & Academic Life holds responsibility for policies and practices that relate to faculty members and librarians, and the distinctive elements of the academic life cycle at the University of Toronto. The Vice-Provost Faculty & Academic Life (VPFAL) is involved in the development and revision of policies and guidelines on a wide range of academic matters, and coordinates Provostial approval on a wide range of matters, including appointments, tenure, and promotion. The VPFAL also oversees matters of academic integrity and advises Deans and other University leaders on a range of matters involving faculty and librarians. The VPFAL works closely with the Vice-President, People Strategy, Equity and Culture; the Office of the Vice-Provost, Academic Programs; senior legal counsel and other portfolios across the institution.
