Re: Appointment of Julia Knapp as Executive Director, Alumni Engagement

On behalf of the selection panel, I am delighted to announce that Julia Knapp has been selected as the Executive Director, Alumni Engagement.

The candidate search for this newly created position attracted an impressive array of candidates from across North America who demonstrated a range of expertise and experience.  Julia’s record of success in her current role as Director of Alumni Programs and Services, and her diverse public and private sector experience in Independent School advancement, banking, client loyalty and marketing–including 10 years with American Express and 5 years at St. Clement’s School where she closed a 9 million dollar capital campaign–made her a stand out among this competitive field of contenders.

The creation of this new role coincides with the University-wide introduction of the Alumni Engagement Metrics initiative.  Julia will be responsible for providing leadership for the development of alumni engagement strategies for the University of Toronto, including divisionally, across our three campuses to support engagement goal achievement.  We are very excited by the highly collaborative approach Julia will bring to working with divisions in promoting alignment and providing support to ensure fulfillment of the University’s alumni engagement targets for the Campaign.

Julia’s track record of success at U of T has been manifest in the spectacular growth of the visibility and popularity of many programs, including Spring Reunion, which has been rebranded as Alumni Reunion and has reached a new high of more than 10,000 unique registrations this year.  Similarly, the increased scope and scale of regional outreach and alumni education programs has brought our alumni engagement initiatives in close alignment with the mutual value proposition for alumni.

Please join me in congratulating Julia on her appointment.
