Re: | Principal of Woodsworth College (PDAD&C #98) |
On June 30, 2019, Professor Joseph Desloges will end his second term as Principal of Woodsworth College. Professor Desloges is not eligible for reappointment.
In 2008, Joseph Desloges was installed as the 7th Principal of Woodsworth College. Over the past decade, he has provided exceptional leadership of the College, upholding its emphasis on recruiting and supporting outstanding students from both traditional and non-traditional pathways. He has been a valued member of the University’s senior leadership team, notably lending his expertise to serve as Chair of the St. George Student Societies Summit (2013-14). As Principal, Professor Desloges led the revitalization of the College’s physical space through the development of Kruger Hall Commons, the Woodsworth Learning Commons, the Woodsworth Annex, and heading the initial stages of a major new building project on the Woodsworth College site. Under his leadership, the College has expanded its academic programs by facilitating new relationships with the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies and the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources, leading the development of the highly successful Woodsworth-One foundation program, including an endowed faculty position, and fostering the creation of the new Digital Humanities program. Professor Desloges has also been a champion of access programming at the College. During his time as Principal, the College expanded its local and international access programming, including the Diploma to Degree program, the full-time Millie Rotman Shime Academic Bridging Program, the Mastercard Foundation program, and the Kakuma School refugee program. The Woodsworth College Boundless Campaign has also flourished under Professor Desloges leadership, significantly exceeding the College’s goal.
