Re: New Service Hub For Lifelong Learning
Building on longstanding strengths in continuing education, the University of Toronto is enhancing its lifelong learning ecosystem with the launch of a new lifelong learning service hub this year within the Division of the Vice-President and Provost. The new hub will heighten the University’s ability to respond to economic shifts and rapidly changing labour market needs with high-quality, flexible learning opportunities rooted in U of T’s global strengths in teaching and research by providing divisions with technological, financial, and business development support.
Complementing existing expertise and offerings at the University, the hub will thus enable divisions to better meet the evolving needs of diverse learners while supporting the development and delivery of new non-credit learning opportunities. Many learners look to our Faculties for high-quality and innovative non-credit courses, certificates, and credentials to advance their careers and fulfill professional development requirements. A key function of the new hub will be to share resources, systems, and best practices across the University to strengthen lifelong learning in all of our Faculties and on all three campuses.
The hub is the result of consultations led by the Provostial Advisors on Lifelong Learning and the Office of the Vice-Provost, Academic Programs, and reaffirms the significance of lifelong learning as a longstanding and core part of U of T’s mission. Lifelong learning is an important way for current students, alumni, industry partners, employers and the broader community to engage with U of T, and contribute to Ontario’s and Canada’s economies.
Further information will be shared directly with divisions as the hub ramps up.
