Re: Appointment of Professor Joseph Milner as Interim Dean, Rotman School of Management (PDAD&C #31)
In November 2025, President Melanie Woodin appointed the current Dean, Susan Christoffersen as Presidential Advisor on Innovation Investments effective January 1, 2026. As a result, Dean Christoffersen decided then that she would not be seeking re-appointment as Dean when her current term ends on June 30, 2026.
I am very pleased to announce that the Agenda Committee of the Academic Board has approved the appointment of Professor Joseph Milner as Interim Dean of the Rotman School of Management from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027, or until a new Dean is appointed, whichever is first.
Professor Joseph Milner has served as the Vice-Dean, MBA Programs since 2020 and the Academic Director of the Full-Time MBA program from 2018 to 2020. He holds the Magna Professorship in Management. His research interests lie in the areas of service operations modeling, revenue management, and healthcare operations. He has served on the editorial boards of Operations Research, Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and Production and Operations Management and has published extensively in these journals. Professor Milner has taught in the Full-Time, Evening, Executive and Global Executive MBA programs, and in the Master of Management Analytics program. Prior to joining the University of Toronto in 2002, he was an assistant professor at Washington University in St Louis. He holds a PhD in Operations Research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
More information about the search process for a new Dean will be shared in the future.
Please join me in thanking Professor Milner for taking on this important leadership role at the Rotman School of Management.
