Re: Announcing the Appointment of the 2026 University Professors (PDAD&C #47)  

I am pleased to announce that the Academic Board of Governing Council has approved the appointment of three University Professors for 2026. The University of Toronto owes much of its reputation for excellence to its world-class professors, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to formally acknowledge the outstanding achievements of some of our finest faculty members. The title “University Professor” is the University’s highest and most distinguished academic rank.   

The newest members of this exceptional group as of July 1, 2026, are: 

• University Professor Roberto Abraham, David A. Dunlap Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Faculty of Arts and Science   
• University Professor John Borrows, Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law    
• University Professor Nicholas Terpstra, Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Science
