Nominations for people to serve on the Committee should be submitted by April 12.

The Agenda Committee of Academic Board has approved the appointment of Professor Karin Ruhlandt as Vice-Principal, Academic & Dean, University of Toronto Scarborough, for a five-year term effective July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2029. Professor Ruhlandt joins the University of Toronto Scarborough from Syracuse University where she is a Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Dean Emerita.

The Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation invites internal nominations for the 2025 NSERC Arthur B. McDonald Fellowships, which recognize outstanding early-stage academic researchers in the natural sciences and engineering and support them to enhance their research capacity. Internal nominations should be submitted by May 3.

The Working Group will contribute advice, suggestions, and insights towards strengthening a culture of civil discourse on campus. The group will consider activities both in and beyond the classroom, and also within and across programs, departments, divisions, and the institution itself. Group members will also participate in consultations about civil discourse in a variety of settings and formats, involving diverse constituencies, including administrative staff.

Professor Phani Radhakrishnan is the winner of the 2024 U of T Global Educator Award. The Award celebrates faculty members who embody the University's global mission and profile, and honours faculty who demonstrate global fluency in their teaching, reflecting a diversity of perspectives and inviting engagement from all students.

The University of Toronto Libraries has launched the 2024 Library User Survey. The goal of this survey is to gain insights into how new technologies and evolving trends will impact interaction with our spaces. Invitations are being sent out to faculty members, staff, and graduate students, with undergraduates to follow later this month. Involvement is crucial to understanding University needs and enhancing services and collections.

The tentative agreement reached between the University of Toronto and CUPE 3902 Unit 5 on March 4, has been ratified by employees in the bargaining unit. The term of the renewal collective agreement is from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025.

All three tentative agreements reached between the University of Toronto and CUPE Local 3261 Full-Time and Part-Time, CUPE Local 3261 Casual, and CUPE Local 3261 89 Chestnut on March 4 have now been ratified by the employees in each of the three bargaining units.
