Re: Update on the Vice-President, Research and Innovation portfolio (PDAD&C #28)

Professor Peter Lewis will complete his term as Associate Vice-President, Global Research Partnerships, Research and Innovation on March 31, 2016. Peter has served as Associate Vice-President since 2010, and also served as Interim Vice-President, Research and Innovation, from July 2014 – February 2015. He will be returning to the Department of Biochemistry in the Faculty of Medicine to re-engage with his academic activities following an administrative leave.

Peter is widely respected for his extensive experience and effectiveness as Associate Vice-President, Global Research Partnerships and for his broad knowledge of all aspects of the portfolio. He has worked tirelessly to develop and steward relationships with external research and industrial partners, both nationally and internationally.

Immediately prior to joining the Research and Innovation portfolio, he served as Vice-Dean, Research and International Relations in the Faculty of Medicine. Among his other administrative roles Professor Lewis also served as Director, Program in Proteomics and Bioinformatics, and Chair of the Department of Biochemistry.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Peter for his exceptional service to the University. I know I speak for all of us at in the Division of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation when I say that we shall miss Peter’s leadership and joie de vivre. Please join me in wishing him every success as he plans his transition.
