Re: Major Research Project Management (MRPM) Fund

The Major Research Project Management (MRPM) Fund was launched in 2011 to provide support for the management of large, complex, multi-PI, CRC-eligible research grants, in partnership with academic divisions. I have reviewed and consulted on the program scope and purpose with the goal of maximizing the positive impact of this investment for University of Toronto researchers. The following program changes are being implemented:

  • The MRPM program will comprise two potential funding streams that may be applied for separately or in combination.
    • MRPM Stream 1 funding is provided to support proposal development for submissions at the full proposal stage (up to $10K);
    • MRPM Stream 2 funding is provided specifically to support the administration of large, complex research projects, normally as compensation for a qualified Project Manager (up to $100K).
  • MRPM support may be requested in the context of CRC-eligible NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR, or NCE programs. In addition, other sponsors/programs that attract indirect costs will also be considered on a case-by-case basis where all other eligibility criteria are met.

We encourage faculty members to explore this opportunity for proposal development and project management support for any grant they are applying to that satisfies the MRPM eligibility criteria. Full program details and application materials can be found on the research funding opportunities website.

If you have any questions, including whether or not the program you wish to apply to would be eligible for the MRPM Fund, please contact:
